Corby Music and Performing Arts Centre - "Music made FUN - come and see for yourself!"
About Us

Corby Music and Performing Arts Centre is one of fifteen Regional Saturday Centres run by the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Service (Northamptonshire County Council) and provides fantastic opportunities for young people who are interested in Music, Dance and Drama.

We are based at The Kingswood School, Gainsborough Road, Corby and are really excited about moving to our new home from September 2010 - it's next door to the current school!

For more information, you can email corbymusiccentre@btinternet.com or just drop by between 0915 and 1215 on a Saturday morning during term-time.

Many of our current and former students started at Corby Music Centre when they were very young and have gone on to become members of Northamptonshire's award-winning County groups - so could you!

Fees are just £25 a term (£75 a year), thanks to generous funding from The Kingswood School.  There is funding available to help families receiving benefits and / or financial support - just ask and we'll help if we can!

There are over 10 000 young people involved in Arts-related activities throughout Northamptonshire, so in joining us you will already be a part of something very special -  our Music Service is officially "OUTSTANDING" according to our OFSTED-style Evaluation Partner and is the envy of most other Counties throughout the UK.

Meet the Staff

Mrs Margaret Boothby - Margaret is the Music Manager at Studfall Junior School and leads our classes for Early Years pupils and those interested in Performing Arts.  If anyone can make Primary School Music fun and educational, Margaret can!
Miss Sarah Brocklesby - Sarah is our Strings specialist and works in lots of schools in the Corby area.  Sarah has a particular interest in Folk Music and started our new group, Fun Folk, this year.  Although the Violin is her main instrument, Sarah also plays and teaches the Clarinet and Recorder - clever stuff!
Miss Pam Carter - Pam is the main peripatetic Woodwind teacher in the Corby area and also works with some of our younger singers.  Pam conducts the County Junior Wind Orchestra and plays the Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone in several local productions.
Mr Thomas Smith - Tom teaches the Piano on Saturday mornings and is also an extremely talented Saxophone player - those that heard his Jazz solo at our Christmas concert will testify to that!
Miss Lydia Hepworth - Lydia is a new member of our team and looks after our Guitarists, as well as running Fun Folk with Sarah.
Miss Sophia Line - Sophia is another of our multi-talented members of staff!  In addition to her fabulous singing voice, Sophia also plays the Piano and Violin and runs our Key Stage 2 activities.
Mr Jon Lloyd (The Boss!) - Jon has worked in the Corby area as a specialist Brass teacher for more years than he cares to remember!  Jon loves giving young people the chance to fulfil their potential and is always on the look out for new Trombonists - who needs valves, keys or a bow when you have a slide?!
Miss Annika Raasch - Annika is a Student Helper.  In addition to her talents as a Cornet player with Corby Silver Band, Annika helps with our Early Years students and teaches the Ocarina.
Miss Kerry Spence - Kerry is a student at Kingswood School and plays lots and lots of things - the Trombone and Clarinet being her main instruments! Like Annika, Kerry is a Student Helper, also plays in Corby Silver Band and helps with Key Stage 2 students, Jazz and Recorder groups.
